Solar Basics

HOW DOES SOLAR WORK

Harvesting the Sun has never been easier. Learn how your solar panel installation system in the Denver metro area converts sunlight into electricity to help yourself and the world be a better expression of itself.

Step 1

The Harvesting

The solar panels or modules convert sunlight into direct-current (DC) electricity.

Step 2

The Inversion

Solar inverter coverts DC electricity into alternating-current (AC) electricity to match your household loads

Step 4

The Utility Meter

The utility meter measures your energy use. The meter is equipped to record both your solar generation and your household consumption. The meter spins backward when your generation offsets your consumption

Step 3

The consumption

AC electricity flows through your main electrical panel to supply any loads under use including your electric vehicle (EV). Surplus will flow back to utility grid

Step 5

The Grid

Your house and solar system will be connected to the grid at all times. Any surplus from your solar system will flow back to the grid and you will be credited. When the system is not able to offset your entire consumption, the grid will be your back up

The Solar Architypes

There are many different ways that solar expresses itself.

Grid-Tied Systems

From roof-mounted systems to ground-mounted systems, systems connected to the grid offer a variety of incentives for going solar. Furthermore, there is an opportunity to decrease your carbon footprint and enjoy savings for years to come.

Battery-Based Systems

From total off-the-grid systems to grid-tied systems that utilize batteries to shave some loads and avoid high utility rates when the Sun is down, battery-based systems can increase your versatility when it comes to managing energy.
